The 7th annual Blue & White, Ryerson Rams Hockey Alumni game was held on February 19, 2005 at Lakeshore Lions Arena in Toronto.
For the second year in a row, Team White was lead by Jason Kotack to humble, or should I say "pumble", Team Blue into submission. After setting a precedent by scoring on the first shift of the game, the stage was set for the entire first period as Team White jumped out to a 5-1 lead.
The score over the next 2 periods was 3-0 for Team White and the game ended with a rather lopsided 8-1 tilt.
The goal scoring went as follows:
Team White: Kotack from Spike
Team Blue: Cook, unassisted
Team White: Spike from Kotack and Hickingbottom
Team White: Kotack, unassisted
Team White: John Byck from Hickingbottom
Team White: Spike from Kotack
Team White: John Byck unassisted
Team White: Kotack from Spagnol
Team White: Moss from John Byck
Besides the fine play of Janson Kotack and the young Team White forwards, there were other notable performances by the Team White goal tender, Carm Giurleo, who made his debut appearance in the alumni game since his graduation in 2000 and special guest John Byck, the brother of Rams team captain Jamie Byck.
Players Of The Game prizes were awarded to Jason Kotack for his second 5 point performance in a row and Gordon Beall, who not only faced a barage of shots just like the old days, but drove all the way from Ottawa prior to the game and drove back to Ottawa after the game. If everyone had Gordie's team spirit, our alumni organization would be in a much better place.
It was very encouraging to see some new faces joining the ranks this year, notably, Carm Giurleo, Ryan Hickingbottom, Tyler Moss, Christopher Corrigan, Scott Spike, Steve Bewley, Marco Sustito and Matt Castator, who all played in their first Ryerson Rams Hockey Alumni game.
Another highlight of the evening was the current Rams victory over Queens University. This is the second year in a row that the Rams have won on Alumni Game Night. The cheering was quite loud at the "The Fox and Fiddle" as the news spread of the Rams first victory under new head coach, Mick Mitrovic.
