John Moore in 1976

John Moore in 1976

John Moore …  Many of us who attended Ryerson Polytechnical Institute and played varsity sports between 1967 and 1981 were tended to by John Moore when it came to our injuries, athletic therapy and equipment.  Not only did John fix us up, he also trained many trainers and equipment managers and helped them move on to careers in the field.

John tried to appear crusty on the outside but those of us who got to know him know that he had a heart of gold on the inside and would go to great lengths to help you (if he liked you and you obeyed his rules).

John was well known for the poster of a cave man that he proudly displayed above his desk in his office …

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: because I’m the meanest son-of-a-bitch in the whole damn valley.”

Alhough John passed away in 1981, the legend lives on in the hearts of those who he took under his wing.  In his memory, money is being collected to purchase a nameplate to be placed on a seat at the Mattamy Athletic Centre (Maple Leaf Gardens).

Please fill out the form below to send your donation (recommended minimum – $25) until we reach the amount required.

Total cost of the dedicated seat is $500, all of which (plus any extra collected), goes to the current Ryerson Rams Men’s Hockey Team.
